Permissions

OS X uses Unix file permissions which are rather simple. There are many articles related to this. Leopard introduced ACL's or Access Control List. Now things get complex. The finder Get Info window can add ACL's but is poor interface and does not allow access to ACL's options more than the basic Unix permissions. A good GUI to control ACL's is the free Sandbox app.
